On The Birthday Concert album, Jaco Pastorius have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. ‘The Birthday Concert’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This disc has all of the essential Jaco Pastorius classics. The Birthday Concert is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
Continuum - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. The first time I listened to Invitation I was struck by its marvelous sound. No Jaco Pastorius song has come close to capturing my attention as Three View Of A Secret did. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I like the agression and power of Punk Jazz. I loved Happy Birthday the first time I heard it. Strong, powerful vocals of Jaco Pastorius in Reza are very impressive. Domingo is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Band Intros good vocals. I like to sing along with Amerika, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes.
