Torcha! isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. It’s natural for Waltari to take a stab at ‘Lights On’ considering her long-professed love for East 17. Torcha! is an amazing album, racked with beauty. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
The Lie Of The Zombie is a song to enjoy for years to come. I Held You So Long is worth the money. As always, Waltari’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Lust Of Life is simple, dignified and effective, Waltari refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Vogue is the album’s biggest hit, I think. I loved Till The Music Nation the first time I heard it. Charming song, great melody. Lyrics of You Know Better are precise and evocative. I have all of Waltari’s tracks and Dance Electric is probably the most his introspective effort. Jukolauta is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Waltari released so far. Death Party is astounding and different song. Album opener I’m A Believer is a bright, upbeat ditty. Fuckadelican Garden makes a person feel perfect. Waltari-Lapio is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done.
