When you buy a Roachford album, you know exactly what you’re getting! On the Malta charts, superstar Roachford’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Lead single “Only To Be With You” and “Johnny” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I Love Permanent Shade Of Blue from start to finish!
When listening to Johnny, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Emergency is a great opener for Permanent Shade Of Blue. In Lay Your Love On Me Roachford is at his best. No Roachford song has come close to capturing my attention as Ride The Storm did. I can’t stop playing This Generation. I Know You Don’t Love Me is a very catchy tune. Music and lyrics of Gus’s Blues (Intro) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. In Do We Wanna Live Together the music gets its power. Cry For Me to me is the best you can get from Roachford. In Guess I Must Be Crazy it becomes nowhere more obvious that Roachford has yet to define own style. I was truly moved when I heard Higher Love. I Know You Don’t Love Me (Ramshackle Radio Edit) as a highlight of Permanent Shade Of Blue contains a ton of marvelous melodies. This Generation (Acoustic Version) gives taste of what makes Roachford special as a musician. Cry (Demo Version) is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined.
