It has been one years Matmos’ last studio CD, “Quasi-Objects” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Matmos’s debut, ‘Quasi-Objects’, does not fit easily into one genre. Since Matmos last CD (Quasi-Objects) on Blue Note Records back in 1999, I have felt a massive void in my life. This is my first Matmos Album and i must say i am blown away.
I loved Cloth Mother/Wire Mother the first time I heard it. Lift up Your Hat gives taste of what makes Matmos special as a musician. Always Three Words is a very catchy tune. Banjo’s Categorical Gut marked the continuation of Matmos in style evolution. Purple Island sets the tone for the entire album. Latex is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about.
