Lee Scratch Perry’s debut, ‘Mystic Warrior and Mystic Warrior Dub’, does not fit easily into one genre. ‘Mystic Warrior and Mystic Warrior Dub’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. IF YOU LIKE ALL Lee Scratch Perry’S SONG GO FOR IT! Great Reggae right here!
Pirates (Black Plastic) can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Lee Scratch Perry is all about. Kung Fu Fighting is simple, dignified and effective, Lee Scratch Perry refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. I can’t stop playing Mystic Warrior. Lee Scratch Perry sings his heart out in Feel The Spirit. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. I believe Jazzy Lady is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Dub Them Crazy is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Broken Antennae is the song that really did it for me. In Black Art Lee Scratch Perry is at his best. Dub The Past is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. The opening track Mystic Warrior Dub is very much like you would expect from other albums. Only one song from Mystic Warrior and Mystic Warrior Dub named Dub Reggae Soca really got me. Dub It Scratchy Dub It one is one of the better boring ones. It’s such an underrated song.
