On Southern Exposure album, Maceo Parker have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. For older fans Southern Exposure will put a massive smile accross your face. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Maceo Parker on ‘Fun In The Sun’. Enjoy the show.
Sister Sanctified is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Splashin’ is the more seemingly obscure song on Southern Exposure that bear up best to repeated listening. Walking Home Together is probably the highlight of the album. The Way You Look Tonight is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Every Saturday Night is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Keep On Marching is my favorite song on Southern Exposure. Music and lyrics of Mercy, Mercy, Mercy creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Blues For Shorty Bill motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others.
