This is the first studio album from David Benoit since bad diagnosis in 1997. When you buy a David Benoit album, you know exactly what you’re getting! It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of David Benoit energies, virtually a rebirth. This is what good Jazz: Fusion should be.
Max’s Boogie is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Lost In Tokyo is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. David Benoit allows each song to breathe and flourish. This track is full of harmonies and gets American Landscape off to a relaxing start. Rue De Ta Soleil is probably one of David Benoit’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. I’ve found myself listening to Saying Goodbye back to back and back many times. Album opener Mr. Rodriguez’s Opus is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion.
