New Model Army’s debut, ‘No Rest For The Wicked’, does not fit easily into one genre. New Model Army was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from New Model Army and No Rest For The Wicked together. Since completing 1989’s ‘Frightened’, New Model Army fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Another great offering from New Model Army.
After you’ve listened to Ambition, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Grandmother’s Footsteps is a great opener for No Rest For The Wicked. Better Than Then - arguably the best track on No Rest For The Wicked album. My Country is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. No Greater Love is perfect. The opening track No Rest is very much like you would expect from other albums. Young, Gifted and Skint is beautiful, yet underrated track. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. New Model Army sings his heart out in Shot. This track is clearly meant to showcase New Model Army’s vocal abilities.
