Since Sopor Aeternus last CD (Todeswunsch) on ForeFront Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. two years ago, Sopor Aeternus briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Die Bruderschaft Des Schmerzes”. Vocals of Sopor Aeternus in Die Bruderschaft Des Schmerzes really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Shadowsphere I was the first single release from the album Todeswunsch. Shadowsphere II is Sopor Aeternus’s best work in years. Sopor Aeternus breathes new life into the music in Saltatio Crudelitatis. Just A Song Without A Name - A catchy, upbeat tune. Soror Sui Excidium is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Todeswunsch. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Todeswunsch (version) is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Todeswunsch couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Drama Der Geschlechtslosigkeit (part I). This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Drama Der Geschlechtslosigkeit (part II) is the more seemingly obscure song on Todeswunsch that bear up best to repeated listening. No Sopor Aeternus song has come close to capturing my attention as Saturn - Impressionen did. Somnabulists Secret Bardo-Life is outstanding work of Sopor Aeternus. Not Dead But Dying is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. In Only The Dead In The Mist full palet of sound is used by Sopor Aeternus to accentuate the presentation. This Profane Finality is another strong production from Sopor Aeternus. Cage Within A Cage - To me, this is the best song on the Todeswunsch.
