While no new Soul Coughing album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1996 tour in Australia. Irresistible Bliss is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since completing 1996’s ‘Super Bon Bon’, Soul Coughing fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is what good Rock: Pop-Rock should be.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Soft Serve, which shows, blatantly, how much Soul Coughing has evolved as a singer. I hope to keep hearing Soul Coughing works for a long time to come. Soundtrack To Mary is a great opener for Irresistible Bliss. Lazybones is beautiful, yet underrated track. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Paint - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Soul Coughing. Although Disseminated is very melodic it is far from sad. Collapse is one of the best records ever. After few listenings I started to like Sleepless more and more. What sets The Idiot Kings apart is Soul Coughing’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. How Many Cans - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody.
