I am not a real Celtic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Le Vaisseau de Pierre’ really is amazing. Le Vaisseau de Pierre isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. On Le Vaisseau de Pierre album, Tri Yann have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Enjoy the show.
Abordage de l’Avelenn L (4:37) - awsome. Within the first few notes of With a Bing-Tow-Row-Row it’s perfectly clear that Tri Yann is living this song. Ouverture du Chantier S had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Tri Yann breathes new life into the music in Quiemboi. Gavotten Nevez War Sujet is simple, dignified and effective, Tri Yann refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Sor a Trehoet is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. After about the third Klemnou Ha Meleudi listen through, I began to believe this song is Tri Yann’s essence. When I listen to Cantic War Sujet an Anaon in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Chant des Anciens is one of the best records ever. No Tri Yann song has come close to capturing my attention as Plus Dur Metier did. Preparatifs du Demena is the funkiest number on the album. Kimiad Eur Paour Kaze Den rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. I like the agression and power of Guerriers d’Une Nuit. Histoire du Bateau Blanc defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. All of songs on Le Vaisseau de Pierre and have something to say letting alone Kan Bale Ar Re Varo. Gwerz Inimaginabl War Dis is the albums biggest surprise. Tri Yann offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is En Dro Vert.
