Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Autechre on ‘Foil’. Self-described as Alternative with lots of words, Autechre comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album has some very good songs like Foil and Montreal. This album is awesome.
Montreal is simple, dignified and effective, Autechre refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. In Silverside it becomes nowhere more obvious that Autechre has yet to define own style. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Glitch catches attention immediately, Piezo is one of the best records ever. Nine is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Further is the funkiest number on the album. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Yulquen is my favorite song on Amber. Nil is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Teartear make listening to Autechre like being in some sort of time warp.
