After seeing Vile, I had to have a good Melvins cd. Lead single “Vile” and “Oven” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Melvins had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Melvins is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Oven is simple, dignified and effective, Melvins refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. At A Crawl make listening to Melvins like being in some sort of time warp. Let God Be Your Gardener - I just love it. Creepy Smell is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Kool Legged is a medium tempo tune. Green Honey has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Agonizer is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Ozma. Get Ozma and turn on Raise A Paw if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Love Thing have really caught my ear and imagination. Ever Since My Accident hits the heart. I believe Revulsion / We Reach is one of the most excellent, heartfelt songs ever written. When listening to Dead Dressed, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Cranky Messiah - a classic song. Claude is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Melvins is hitting on all cylinders in My Small Percent Shows Most. Candy-O sets the tone for the entire album.
