After debuting at No. 1 last week, Melvins’s album Gluey Porch Treatments falls to No. 2 with 577,000, a sales slide of 64%. This is the first studio album from Melvins since bad diagnosis in 1999. Gluey Porch Treatments carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Overall, I would highly recommend Gluey Porch Treatments CD.
Echo / Don’t Piece Me is a fine track on any terms. Best song on the album, love it. Steve Instant Neuman is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Melvins released so far. Influence Of Atmosphere is another favourite of mine. Exact Paperbacks - A catchy, upbeat tune. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. What sets Leeech apart is Melvins’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Glow God is a cool sing-along. Big As Mountain is a good listen every once in a while. The song Heaviness Of The Load ending is my favorite… so catchy! There is amazing mix of music in Flex With You. When I listen to Bitten Into Sympathy in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Melvins is one of artists that allow his songs like Gluey Porch Treatments to stand on their own and be heard. Clipping Roses is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Overall a nice softer song. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Over From Under The Excrement, which shows, blatantly, how much Melvins has evolved as a singer. Echohead (Demo) makes a person feel gorgeous. Flex With You (Demo) is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Don’t Piece Me (Demo) still maintains something of a specific flourish. Bitten Into Sympathy (Demo) - I just love it. Exact Paperbacks (Demo) is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. Glow God / Big As A Mountain (Demo) is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. No Melvins song has come close to capturing my attention as Heaviness Of The Load (Demo) did. Happy Gray Or Black (Demo) is astounding. Heater Moves and Eyes (Demo) is a striking and quite long song. Gluey Porch Treatments (Demo) - My least favorite song on this album. Musically Eye Flys (Demo) is superior to other tracks in Gluey Porch Treatments. I love the melodic melody of Clipping Roses (Demo) and to this day it makes me feel good.
