Stag isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Stag is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since Melvins last CD (Stag) on Virgin Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Hide is just simply stunning. This song stands out greatly from the others. Yacobs Lab - A classic Melvins track. The Bloat is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Stag have ended. Tipping The Lion has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Melvins’s strong vocals come to the fore. Music and lyrics of Black Book creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. As always, Melvins’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Buck Owens - To me, this is the best song on the Stag. Sterilized one of the best in my collection. I love the melodic melody of Lacrimosa and to this day it makes me feel good. Music in Skin Horse is amazing as in all tracks of Stag. Captain Pungent has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Berthas. Melvins has astounded me with this amazing track.
