Since completing 1994’s ‘Bronze Casting’, Keiko Matsui fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Doll carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Self-described as Jazz: Contemporary Jazz with lots of words, Keiko Matsui comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. IT makes me wanna dance!
Moroccan Ashes is the exquisite blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Doll - This one makes me want to not only sing along. I love the melodic melody of Water Lily and to this day it makes me feel good. Voice of the Heart - This one is lively and fun. The song feels complete. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Keiko Matsui. In Eye of the Moon Keiko Matsui spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Funny Things - Keiko Matsui first major hit. This track is clearly meant to showcase Keiko Matsui’s vocal abilities.
