Guitar On Fire: The Atlantic Sessions isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. There is no doubt that Roy Buchanan has talent. While no new Roy Buchanan album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1993 tour in South America. Guitar On Fire: The Atlantic Sessions touched my soul like nothing else.
This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Roy Buchanan. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Guitar On Fire: The Atlantic Sessions. Lyrics of Green Onions are precise and evocative. Judy is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Guitar On Fire: The Atlantic Sessions have ended. Song Adventures Of Brer Rabbit and Tar Baby is actually a funny song. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Fly… Night Bird still maintains something of a specific flourish. Supernova is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. In Down By The River full palet of sound is used by Roy Buchanan to accentuate the presentation. Running Out - This is a very lively song. Man On The Floor is probably the most interesting track on Guitar On Fire: The Atlantic Sessions. Okay is almost impossible to review. My Friend Jeff is amazing song though, very addictive. When listening to If Six Was Nine, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. The Messiah Will Come Again - For me, this is the best of the album.
