On Invisible Lantern album, Screaming Trees have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. When you buy a Screaming Trees album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Screaming Trees was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Screaming Trees and Invisible Lantern together. I Love Invisible Lantern from start to finish!
Walk Through to This Side is probably the highlight of the album. Screaming Trees sings Lines & Circles in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Some of the arrangements found on Invisible Lantern are surprisingly edgy. As always, Screaming Trees’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Grey Diamond Desert stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. I like to sing along with Smoke Rings, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Second I Awake makes a person feel cool. Screaming Trees is hitting on all cylinders in Invisible Lantern. The song Even If ending is my favorite… so catchy! Direction of the Sun - This is a very lively song. Night Comes Creeping is one of the coolest songs Screaming Trees has ever recorded.
