I am not a real Rock: Folk-Rock music type of person, but i have to admit ‘The Black Light’ really is amazing. ‘The Black Light’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. There is no doubt that Calexico has talent. I Love The Black Light from start to finish!
Fake Fur - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. The Ride (Pt II) one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. The first time I listened to Where Water Flows I was struck by its cool sound. The Black Light as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Listening to Sideshow you can hear that Calexico has still amazing chemistry with band members. Chach presents the marvelous mix of instruments on The Black Light. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Minas De Cobre (For Better Metal) is a strong cut, one of many. I like Over Your Shoulder because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. You have to get essence of the Vinegaroon’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Trigger is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Stray I just LOVE this mix! Old Man Waltz actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Calexico’s face. The sound in Bloodflow is really warm and Calexico’s signature voice is still very much present. Frontera is a medium tempo tune.
