Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Yothu Yindi on ‘Timeless Land’. sixteen years ago, Yothu Yindi briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “World Of Innocence”. On Freedom album, Yothu Yindi have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Freedom is not something you should pass up.
Such hits like World Of Innocence will leave you hooked. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Blew our minds when we first heard Baywara. Ngerrk is excellent and different song. First time I heard Back To Culture was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. No Yothu Yindi song has come close to capturing my attention as World Turning did. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Freedom. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Milika is my favorite song on Freedom. A unique and uplifting song. Gunitjpirr Man - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Yolngu Boy from the beginning to the end. Strong, powerful vocals of Yothu Yindi in Dots On The Shells are very impressive. Our Generation has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. I like Gany’tjurr because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly.
