Self-described as Instrumental with lots of words, Jimmy Buffett comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. ‘Bars’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Jimmy Buffett was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Jimmy Buffett and Bars together. I wish that “Bars” album was instrumental.
After few listenings I started to like Cuban Crime of Passion more and more. First Look very upbeat. This is one hell of a track. The Great Filling Station Ho.. motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Blew our minds when we first heard Why Don’t We Get Drunk. Elvis Imitators - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. A fantastic track full of wonder. Kick It In Second Wind - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Desperation Samba (Halloween…..) has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Jimmy Buffett’s strong vocals come to the fore. When Salome Plays the Drums is a fine track on any terms. They Don’t Dance Like Carmen.. is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. The Pascagoula Run actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Jimmy Buffett’s face. Sending the Old Man Home is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. This song may be the most meaningful. Fins is perfect. Once The Weather is Here, I Wish .. gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Tampico Trauma - To me, this is the best song on the Bars.
