Since completing 1990’s ‘Heaven Can Wait’, Paul Young fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Since Paul Young last CD (Other Voices) on Blue Note Records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. While no new Paul Young album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1990 tour in Asia. Heaven Can Wait and A Little Bit Of Love is really good.
A Little Bit Of Love is simple, dignified and effective, Paul Young refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I find myself hearing bits of Softly Whispering I Love You here and there throughout my waking hours. Together is worth the money. Stop On By is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. The first time I listened to Our Time Has Come I was struck by its astounding sound. I’ve found myself listening to Oh Girl back to back and back many times. Charming song, great melody. It’s What She Didn’t Say which is my favorite is a truly Paul Young sounding song. Calling You defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
