This is the first studio album from Israel Kamakawiwo’ole since bad diagnosis in 1993. Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. There were many famous songs of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole available. One of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s best albums yet.
Overall a nice softer song. I’ve found myself listening to ‘Ama’ama back to back and back many times. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Panini Pua Kea, which shows, blatantly, how much Israel Kamakawiwo’ole has evolved as a singer. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. The opening track Kuhio Bay is very much like you would expect from other albums. Ka Pua U’i is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Once you hear White Sandy Beach of Hawai’i, you will listen to it over and over. Henehene Kou ‘Aka is so unique, as each one of the songs is. La ‘Elima is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Pili Me Ka’u Manu is such a excellent and optimistic song that things can get just better. This song may be the most meaningful. I like the idea behind Kaulana Kawaihae. The song Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World ending is my favorite… so catchy! Hawai’i ‘78 is nothing but pure genius.
