When you buy a Gilbert O’Sullivan album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This album has some very good songs like At The Very Mention Of Your Name and Came To See Me Yesterday. Now signed to Gilbert O’Sullivan’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “Live In Japan” leads Gilbert O’Sullivan’s back-to-school campaign. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Came To See Me Yesterday without a doubt is the standout song of Live In Japan. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Live In Japan. I Wish I Could Cry is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. After about the third Now Matter How I Try listen through, I began to believe this song is Gilbert O’Sullivan’s essence. Gilbert O’Sullivan rocks harder than ever with We Will. Miss My Love Today presents the excellent mix of instruments on Live In Japan. Gilbert O’Sullivan breathes new life into the music in Got To Be That Way. After you’ve listened to Clair, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Dear Dream is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Hold On To What You Got - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Gilbert O’Sullivan. The sound of Matrimony is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Can’t Get Enough Of You is a bit of a show-tune. Not That It Bothers Me - another great track from the Live In Japan album. It’s Easy To See When You’re Blind is pretty funky and mellow. Tomorrow Today sets the tone for the entire album. What’s In A Kiss is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Live In Japan. No Gilbert O’Sullivan song has come close to capturing my attention as Or So They Say did. Get Down is really a nice song to relax and listen too. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Alone Again because the melody in the chorus is so good. Where Peaceful Waters Flows is nothing short of a modern masterpiece.
