After debuting at No. 1 last week, Gilbert O’Sullivan’s album Every Song Has It’s Play falls to No. 2 with 327,000, a sales slide of 85%. There is no doubt that Gilbert O’Sullivan has talent. Since Gilbert O’Sullivan last CD (Every Song Has It’s Play) on Columbia Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Gilbert O’Sullivan has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Dear Dream to me is the best you can get from Gilbert O’Sullivan. I Wish I Could Cry is one of these floating songs. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Pretty Polly is exquisite song though, very addictive. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. You Don’t Owe Me - If I Know You (With Mike Dore) is one of the best records ever. Nobody Wants To Know (With Barry Esson) is a great opener for Every Song Has It’s Play. Gilbert O’Sullivan sings his heart out in Young At Heart. Music of I’ve Never Been Short Of A Smile is gentle, never overbearing. A great put together song. Overall a nice softer song.
