I am not a real Instrumental music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Life and Rhymes’ really is amazing. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Gilbert O’Sullivan has. Gilbert O’Sullivan’s debut, ‘Life and Rhymes’, does not fit easily into one genre. Enjoy the show.
Life and Rhymes couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Bear With Me. In You Don’t Own Me it becomes nowhere more obvious that Gilbert O’Sullivan has yet to define own style. A Minute Of Your Time is probably one of Gilbert O’Sullivan’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Is It A Crime which is my favorite is a truly Gilbert O’Sullivan sounding song. Got To Be That Way great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.You can find feelings on this piece of art. Song I Promise Honest is actually a funny song. I was truly moved when I heard Wonder Why. Gilbert O’Sullivan sings Looking (A Tale Of Two Meanings) in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. The opening track If I Know You is very much like you would expect from other albums. At Least I’m Honest presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Life and Rhymes.
