On The Album album, Alabina have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Now signed to Alabina’s Virgin Records, the title track from second album “The Album” leads Alabina’s back-to-school campaign. For older fans The Album will put a massive smile accross your face. This is what good Folk should be.
Lolai (Ya Habibi Ya Eyni) [New Version] makes a person feel cool. Music and lyrics of Salma Ya Salama (Ole y Ola) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. The sound of Alabina [Original Version] is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Ya Mama, Ya Mama on The Album is solid and easy to listen to. Voice and instruments in Tierra Santa complement each other. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Eshebo (Chebba), which shows, blatantly, how much Alabina has evolved as a singer. Rona is beautiful, yet underrated track. Yo Te VI (Ah Ya Zein) gives good insight into the truths. I can’t stop humming along Yo Te Quiero, Tu Me Quieres. Espero is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Linda is a medium tempo tune. Alabina [Spanish Version] defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Megamix have really caught my ear and imagination.
