Self-described as Folk with lots of words, Charles Aznavour comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Since completing 1997’s ‘Je te rechaufferai’, Charles Aznavour fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Since Charles Aznavour last CD (Palais Des Congres 97-98 (cd2)) on ForeFront Records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. If you want to hear real Folk, get this record now!
After few listenings I started to like Viens au creux de mmon epaule more and more. This song may be the most meaningful. Il faut savoir - I like this one. I can’t stop humming along Pour faire une jam. I believe Je t’aime A.I.M.E. is one of the most gorgeous, heartfelt songs ever written. Within the first few notes of Presentation auteurs compositeurs it’s perfectly clear that Charles Aznavour is living this song. Me voila seul can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Charles Aznavour is all about. Tu t’laisses aller is such a amazing and optimistic song that things can get just better. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Charles Aznavour. Les enfants is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Ave Maria rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. In Les plaisiras demodes Charles Aznavour spins a tale you want to hear to the end. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Non je n’ai rien oublie from the beginning to the end. Voice of Charles Aznavour in Les deux guitares is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Mon emouvanta amour which is my favorite is a truly Charles Aznavour sounding song. La boheme (4:19) - awsome. In Nous nous reverrons un jour ou l’autre the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
