Now signed to Dalida’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima” leads Dalida’s back-to-school campaign. ‘Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. twelve years ago, Dalida briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Pour Garder”. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
I hope to keep hearing Dalida works for a long time to come. Tesoro Mio is a great opener for Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Calypso Italiano because the melody in the chorus is so good. The song Histoire d’Un Amour [Historia de un Amor] ending is my favorite… so catchy! I loved Gondolier (With All My Heart) the first time I heard it. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Dalida. J’ute Chanter la Brise (Sempre Que Lisboa Canta) is almost impossible to review. Lyrics of Pardon (El Reloj) are precise and evocative. I’ve found myself listening to Dieu Seul (Love Me Forever) back to back and back many times. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Dalida. When I listen to Dans le Bleu du Ciel Bleu (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu - Volare) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Montagne is a perfect sing-along. Je Pars (Alone) is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Blew our minds when we first heard Timide Snade (Timida Serenata). Still going through Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima and coming to appreciate Inconnu Mon Amour [Rapt au 2E Bureau] more and more with every listen. In Amour Chante [Du Film: Rapt au 2EME Bureau] Dalida is at his best. Mdie Perdue (2:47) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Gitans is a very catchy tune. This track is full of harmonies and gets Les annees Barclay - Vol.2 - Come prima off to a relaxing start. Rendez-Vous au Lavandou (Festival du Coq de la Chanson Franse 1958) is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. AMon Coeur (Portuguesa) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. The sound in Adieu Monsieur Mon Amour is really warm and Dalida’s signature voice is still very much present. There is astounding mix of music in Maintenant. Hna is a strong cut, one of many. This is probably my favorite song on the album.
