After seeing Marie-Jeanne, I had to have a good Michel Sardou cd. On Bercy 91 album, Michel Sardou have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This disc has all of the essential Michel Sardou classics. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is L’award
The opening track L’award is very much like you would expect from other albums. J’accuse is one of the coolest songs Michel Sardou has ever recorded. Les Villes De Solitude is one of my favorite songs by Michel Sardou. Michel Sardou offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. In La Maladie D’amour Michel Sardou spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Parce Que C’etait Lui, Parce Que C’etait Moi - I just love it. Une Fille Aux Yeux Clairs hits the heart. Comme D’habitude is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. Les Vieux Maries gets you up and jumping. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Bercy 91 is Le France. Les Yeux D’un Animal - For me, this is the best of the album. L’autre Femme is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Les Ricains is the more seemingly obscure song on Bercy 91 that bear up best to repeated listening. After you’ve listened to Minuit Moins Dix, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Je Vais T’aimer is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Michel Sardou is one of artists that allow his songs like 1965 to stand on their own and be heard. I can’t stop humming along Musulmanes. Le Veteran is probably the highlight of the album. L’an Mil is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Le Privilege motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Au Nom Du Pere is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Les Lacs De Connemara is nothing but pure genius. Aujourd’hui Peut-Etre is the albums biggest surprise. Reprise : Les Lacs Du Connemara - arguably the best track on Bercy 91 album.
