After seeing Successeur, I had to have a good Michel Sardou cd. It’s natural for Michel Sardou to take a stab at ‘Successeur’ considering her long-professed love for Paul Oakenfold. Olympia 95 is an amazing album, racked with beauty. One of Michel Sardou’s best albums yet.
Deja Vu is simple, dignified and effective, Michel Sardou refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. After you’ve listened to Parlons de Toi, de Moi, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. All of songs on Olympia 95 and have something to say letting alone Deux ecoles. En Chantant is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. 1965 is another strong production from Michel Sardou. Verdun has a fun tempo. In Selon Que Vous Serez, Etc., Etc. Michel Sardou is at his best. Je Vais T’Aimer is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Monde Ou Tu Vas is pretty funky and mellow. Michel Sardou is hitting on all cylinders in Marie-Jeanne. No Michel Sardou song has come close to capturing my attention as Privilege did. Michel Sardou sings his heart out in Ma Premiere Femme, Ma Femme. Vladimir Ilitch is one of these floating songs. I loved Putain de Temps the first time I heard it. Je Me Souviens d’Un Adieu is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Bac G. is really a nice song to relax and listen too. I find myself hearing bits of Rouge here and there throughout my waking hours. Mefie-Toi on T’Aime - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Elle en Aura Besoin Plus Tart is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Musically Autre Femme is superior to other tracks in Olympia 95. I listened to the opening track Lacs du Connemara and liked it a lot. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. One listen to the sheer beauty of Afrique Adieu was all I needed.
