Since completing 1997’s ‘Track 1′, Craig Armstrong fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. Craig Armstrong was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Craig Armstrong and Orphans together. Craig Armstrong’s debut, ‘Orphans’, does not fit easily into one genre. Another great offering from Craig Armstrong.
The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Track 4. Vocals of Craig Armstrong in Track 5 really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Track 6 from the beginning to the end. Track 7 is a great opener for Orphans. Within the first few notes of Track 8 it’s perfectly clear that Craig Armstrong is living this song. Voice of Craig Armstrong in Track 9 is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Track 10 is the albums biggest surprise. Track 11 is the funkiest number on the album. Track 12 is worth the money. I can’t stop playing Track 13. Track 14 is simply amazing. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Track 16 is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Track 17 is a medium tempo tune. Track 18 is the more seemingly obscure song on Orphans that bear up best to repeated listening. Track 19 - A nice song. Track 20 is almost impossible to review.
