It has been fifteen years Asleep At The Wheel’ last studio CD, “Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys (Dance Version)” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Asleep At The Wheel energies, virtually a rebirth. I am not a real Country music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys (Dance Version)’ really is amazing. Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys (Dance Version) is the best essence of Asleep At The Wheel.
Big Ball In Cowtown - This one is lively and fun. Yearning (Just For You) has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Asleep At The Wheel’s strong vocals come to the fore. Song Bring It On Down To My House is actually a funny song. Deep Water - A catchy, upbeat tune. Within the first few notes of Blues For Dixie it’s perfectly clear that Asleep At The Wheel is living this song. Billy Dale has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Across The Alley From The Alamo hits the heart. Old Fashioned Love - A strong beat. Ida Red - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Misery is another favourite of mine. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Hubbin’ It - Asleep At The Wheel first major hit. Corina, Corina is perfect. Still Water Runs The Deepest is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Tribute To The Music Of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys (Dance Version). In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Asleep At The Wheel. Got A Letter From My Kid Today is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Dusty Skies is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day.
