Slim Whitman’s debut, ‘Rose Marie CD 2′, does not fit easily into one genre. This is the first studio album from Slim Whitman since bad diagnosis in 1996. Since Slim Whitman last CD (Rose Marie CD 2) on Blue Note Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. Overall, I would highly recommend Rose Marie CD 2 CD.
You have to get essence of the I’m Casting My Lasso Towards The Sky(1956)’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Restless Heart(1953) is the albums biggest surprise. One listen to the sheer beauty of There’s A Rainbow In Every Teardrop(1953) was all I needed. Slim Whitman offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. North Wind(1953) is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Rose Marie CD 2. The sound of Darlin’ Don’t Cry(1953) is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. A fantastic track full of wonder. Lord, Help Me Be As Thou(1953) - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Warm, Warm Lips(1956) - My least favorite song on this album. Ride Away(1954) is really the reason why I recommend buying Rose Marie CD 2. After few listenings I started to like Secret Love(1954) more and more. Why(1954) is probably the most interesting track on Rose Marie CD 2. We Stood At The Altar(1954) is one of these floating songs. Music and lyrics of There’s A Loveknot In My Lariat(1956) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Musically I Leave the Milky Way(1956) is superior to other tracks in Rose Marie CD 2. As always, Slim Whitman’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Rose Marie CD 2. Cattle Call(1996) good vocals. Music of Beautiful Dreamer(1954) is gentle, never overbearing. Voice and instruments in Singing Hills(1954) complement each other. Haunted Hungry Heart(1960) as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. I’ve found myself listening to I Hate to See You Cry(1954) back to back and back many times. You Have My Heart(1956) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. When I Grow Too Old To Dream(1955) has a fun tempo. Cattle Call(1955) which is my favorite is a truly Slim Whitman sounding song. This track is just fantastic from start to finish.
