This disc has all of the essential Merle Haggard classics. Since completing 1995’s ‘Green Green Grass Of Home’, Merle Haggard fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. Lead single “Green Green Grass Of Home” and “I Could Have Gone Right” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I Love Untamed Hawk CD5 from start to finish!
I Could Have Gone Right is the funkiest number on the album. There is exquisite mix of music in The Day The Rains Came. Blew our minds when we first heard I Think We’re Livin’ In The Good Old Days. Although Somewhere On Skid Row is very melodic it is far from sad. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Untamed Hawk CD5. Folsom Prison Blues is one of the best records ever. This song may be the most meaningful. Best song on the album, love it. I Take A Lot Of Pride In What I Am is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Merle Haggard released so far. I Just Want To Look At You One More Time I just LOVE this mix! I’m Bringin’ Home Good News very upbeat. Keep Me From Cryin’ Today has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. I Can’t Hold Myself In Line - This is a very lively song. I’m Free - For me, this is the best of the album. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Untamed Hawk CD5. In Who’ll Buy The Wine Merle Haggard spins a tale you want to hear to the end. She Thinks I Still Care - My least favorite song on this album. What’s Wrong With Stayin’ Home is one of the more up-tempo songs on Untamed Hawk CD5. When No Flowers Grows marked the continuation of Merle Haggard in style evolution. Every Fool Has A Rainbow (2:30) a good melody. Hungry Eyes is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. I believe Silver Wings is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written.
