The Nashville Years, Vol. 5 is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since completing 1993’s ‘Okeechobee Ocean’, Burl Ives fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. It has been six years Burl Ives’ last studio CD, “The Nashville Years, Vol. 5″ which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
It’s such an underrated song. All of songs on The Nashville Years, Vol. 5 and have something to say letting alone Jealous. My Gal Sal - a classic song. Voice of Burl Ives in By The Light Of The Silvery Moon is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. For Me And My Gal - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Red Sails In The Sunset is one of the best records ever. Burl Ives is one of artists that allow his songs like Make Believe to stand on their own and be heard. Oh, How I Miss You Tonight is the first taste of the new album. You Know You Belong To Somebody Else still maintains something of a specific flourish. Down In The Okefenokee gives taste of what makes Burl Ives special as a musician. (I Hear You) Call My Name has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. River Boy is the song that really did it for me. Drifting And Dreaming is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Opening track Beyond The Reef shows the best of Burl Ives. My Isle Of Golden Dreams is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Now Is The Hour is simply amazing. Sweet Leilani is a fine track on any terms. Moon Of Manakoora - My least favorite song on this album. Music of Song Of The Islands is gentle, never overbearing. Some call Keep Your Eyes On The Hands from The Nashville Years, Vol. 5 as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. I like Hawaiian Bells because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Little Brown Girl - arguably the best track on The Nashville Years, Vol. 5 album. On The Beach Of Waikiki (2:42) - awsome. Aloha Oe is probably the highlight of the album. Thirty Thousand Feet Over Denver have really caught my ear and imagination. In Betsy, The Cow the music gets its power.
