Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches is an amazing album, racked with beauty. It has been sixteen years The Dillards’ last studio CD, “Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. This album has some very good songs like Redbone Hound and Forget Me Not. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Forget Me Not is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. One A M defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. The sound of Last Morning is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Get Out On The Road is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of The Dillards. Overall a nice softer song. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Sunny Day is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Man Of Constant Sorrow great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool. What sets Music Is Music apart is The Dillards’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Caney Creek is simple, dignified and effective, The Dillards refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Dooley is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches. I have all of The Dillards’s tracks and You’ve Got To Be Strong is probably the most his introspective effort. The Dillards sings Carry Me Off in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Once Smile For Me gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Daddy Was A Mover as a highlight of Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches contains a ton of exquisite melodies. Lyrics of What’s Time To A Hog are precise and evocative.
