Loudon Wainwright III had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Since completing 1998’s ‘Hard Day on the Planet’, Loudon Wainwright III fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s natural for Loudon Wainwright III to take a stab at ‘Hard Day on the Planet’ considering her long-professed love for Ondskapt. Smart music for smart people.
School Days is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. A Father and a Son is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. In One Man Guy the music gets its power. It’s Love and I Hate It I just LOVE this mix! I now have Men as one of my personal favorites. The Birthday Present is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. This track is full of harmonies and gets The BBC Sessions off to a relaxing start. Loudon Wainwright III offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Carmine Street one is one of the better boring ones. You can find feelings on this piece of art. In Sunday Times the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. When listening to You Don’t Want to Know, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Get The BBC Sessions and turn on Prince Hal’s Dirge if you are going to sip your wine late at night. The Swimming Song is a strong cut, one of many. I Know I’m Unhappy - Suicide Song - Glenville Reel is one of the coolest songs Loudon Wainwright III has ever recorded. No is one of the more up-tempo songs on The BBC Sessions. After you’ve listened to I Wish It Was Me, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Am World is almost impossible to review. I was truly moved when I heard East Indian Princess. Be Careful There’s a Baby in the House is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo.
