It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Highwaymen energies, virtually a rebirth. Since The Highwaymen last CD (The Highwaymen Live) on Mute Records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. The Highwaymen Live carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like The Highwaymen Live.
Still going through The Highwaymen Live and coming to appreciate Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys more and more with every listen. Trouble Man - A classic The Highwaymen track. Amanda is really the reason why I recommend buying The Highwaymen Live. Ain’t No Good Chain Gang - A catchy, upbeat tune. Folsom Prison Blues hits the heart. Ring of Fire great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Help Me Make It Through The Night is the albums biggest surprise. I find myself hearing bits of Best of All Possible World here and there throughout my waking hours. City of New Orleans good vocals. I loved Always On My Mind the first time I heard it. Silver Stallions has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. The Highwaymen is one of artists that allow his songs like Last Cowboy Song to stand on their own and be heard. The Highwaymen breathes new life into the music in Living Legend. It took me a little time but I ended up loving They Killed Him. Me And Bobby McGee is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Ragged Old Flag - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of The Highwaymen. Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Night Life is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Desperados Waiting For A Train - a classic song. Big River still maintains something of a specific flourish. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. In Why Me (Lord) The Highwaymen is at his best. Luckenbach, Texas is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is On The Road Again.
