Self-described as Pop with lots of words, Bronski Beat comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. The Age Of Consent is an amazing album, racked with beauty. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Bronski Beat energies, virtually a rebirth. If I may, I suggest “Smalltown Boy (Full 12 Version)”. That one song is amazing!
I Feel Lovejohnny Remember Me is beautiful, yet underrated track. Need A Man Blues actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Bronski Beat’s face. Junk - I just love it. Charming song, great melody. I like Ain’t Necessarily So because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Screaming - Check out that bassline! Bronski Beat rocks harder than ever with Smalltown Boy. This track is full of harmonies and gets The Age Of Consent off to a relaxing start. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Why is simple, dignified and effective, Bronski Beat refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
